Network Engineer
Position Summary
The Network Systems Engineer is a hybrid role that supports and maintains all technical needs of the enterprise computer and communications network. Their primary areas of concern are: Computer and Storage Hardware, Desktop and Server Virtualization, Data Protection, Database, WAN/LAN/SAN Hardware, Firewalls, Load-balancers, Wireless Network, Network Endpoints and Voice Networks. The Network Systems Engineer’s role is to implement information technology solutions that are reliable, scalable, efficient, secure and promote the greatest degree of interoperability. Wireless technologies and associated devices such as Mobile phones and Tablets. The Network Engineer makes decisions independently on Information Systems solutions, problems and methods while maintaining compliance with all known regulations. The knowledge and expertise required at this level of work usually results from progressive work experience in large enterprise retail, banking, healthcare, or military environments.
- Required to support clients in the area of IT networks, systems, mobile and applications support.
- Optimize existing network by adjusting network parameters, adding/deleting of neighboring networks (working with Hospital IT) and recommending possible solutions to problems.
- Proficient in wireless surveys to document customer wireless networks.
- Develop wireless network infrastructures and make recommendations on systems enhancements for optimization. Proficient in all aspects of Wi-Fi deployments and problem analysis for both Controller and non- controller based systems.
- Use measuring and diagnostic tools to document, analyze, test and recommend changes to settings, equipment placement and addition of specific equipment on customer wireless networks.
- Provide technical assessment of requirements and definition as required.
- Validate RF link performance, quality and reliability.
- Create reports documenting survey results and recommendations.
- Coordinate with customers and provide assistance to customers on phone at site as well.
- Collaborate with customers, sales, marketing, and engineering teams on all hardware installation and help ensure appropriate integration of network product in various networks.
- Access Cloud base tools implementation if necessary to evaluate sessions to determine root clouds or problems.
- If required, implement TRACER routes, path selection and bandwidth testing applications to isolate and troubleshoot client network latency concerns if necessary.
- Work with Engineering Team and/or Hospital-based IT Staff to monitor internal network outages and alerts if and when necessary.
- Provide cognitive status feedback to the clients and network operations.
- Responds to technical calls to generate incident tickets, product issues and other help desk functions
- Participates in team implementation meetings and technical reviews for optimum support.
- Perform high level systems changes including script and Database under the guidance of other staff or Supervisor.
- Co-ordinate meetings and reviews with clients as needed.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates information technology systems operations .
- Standard IT procedures, concepts, practices and policies exposure.
- Healthcare IT experience preferred.
- Microsoft systems and other software experience.
- Prior experience working in a Network Operations Center.
- IT security systems experience .
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Works under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader or manager .
- Undergraduate or other Degrees in Information Systems and/or Technical Certifications related field with 5 years’ experience is desired.
